As someone who’s passionate about empowering women, I believe that when we come together, amazing things happen. This campaign is a beautiful movement that resonates with the essence of what Dress for Success stands for, which is lifting each other up. I am here to celebrate the strength, resilience, and endless possibilities that unfold when we unite. A question that I was recently asked was, ‘What advice would I give to the next generation of female leaders’? My response was simple and one that I choose to live by every day; Choose to help others with no expectations, and choose to find joy in your journey. • Today’s Featured Woman in our Your Hour Her Power campaign is Sanela Sehovac, Owner of Carpe Diem Tours. “Today marks the start of an incredibly personal journey for me – leading the ‘Your Hour, Her Power’ campaign with Dress for Success this March. 🌸✨ Each twist in my own story, from the daunting first steps in Canada clutching just a suitcase of belonging in 2001 to rebuilding my life post-2008’s financial turmoil and navigating through the emotional aftermath of a divorce in 2012, has taught me resilience, hope, and the irreplaceable value of community. But here’s the thing – I had the support of amazing family and friends, and a relentless drive that propelled me forward. Yet, I know this isn’t everyone’s story. Many women face these crossroads alone, without a support system or the resources to turn a new page. This is where Dress for Success steps in, offering not just professional attire, but a network of support and the tools to help women thrive in work and in life. I’m calling on you, my incredible community, to join me in this cause. Whether it’s donating the equivalent of an hour of your pay or simply spreading the word, your support can light up someone’s path to success. Let’s be the village that raises hope and empowers dreams.” To donate to Sanela’s campaign, please click this link: https://lnkd.in/dBpfU2gh Our 2024 Your Hour Her Power campaign is generously sponsored by TD Canada Trust . 💖 #YourHourHerPower #DressForSuccess #CommunitySupport #Empowerment

  • Today’s Featured Woman in our Your Hour Her Power campaign is Cindy Shaw, Senior Living Marketing Specialist. “What advice would I give my 25-year-old self? As I approach the age of 50, I find myself contemplating a question that feels fitting for this milestone. I can't help but wonder what advice my 75-year-old self would offer me at this moment in time. My intuition tells me that their words of wisdom would likely be similar in nature. If I had the opportunity to travel back in time and speak to my younger self, one piece of advice I would give is to worry less and trust that everything will work out. Recently, I came across a thought-provoking quote in a podcast I was listening to: "Worrying is like praying for what you don't want." These words resonated deeply with me and made me reflect on the unnecessary nature of worry. Another quote by Eckhart Tolle also comes to mind: "Worry pretends to be necessary but serves no real purpose." Looking back on my life, I now realize just how much time and energy I have wasted on worrying, mistakenly believing that it was necessary. As I grow older, I have come to understand how my mind often tries to take control of situations where I have little influence or falsely convinces me that I should have more control. It's fascinating how the mind operates, especially because it is where our ego resides. The ego has a way of "Edging the Good Out," as I like to say. This means that instead of having faith in my ability to navigate challenges, I let fear and control take over. Rather than embracing life and going with the flow, I feel compelled to micromanage every aspect. Having once taught mindset strategies, I now recognize that my mind doesn't possess all the answers. It is not the ultimate authority on how to live a fulfilling life. The key is finding a balance between using the mind's capabilities while also tapping into deeper wisdom and intuition. Trusting in the journey and letting go of excessive worry allows for a more peaceful and authentic experience of life. In conclusion, as I consider the insights my future self might offer, I am reminded of the importance of letting go of unnecessary worry and embracing the uncertainty of life. By doing so, we can create space for growth, wisdom, and a deeper connection with ourselves and the world around us.” To donate to Cindy’s campaign please click this link: https://lnkd.in/gfvAbEg5 Our 2024 Your Hour Her Power campaign is generously sponsored by TD Canada Trust.

  • Today’s Featured Woman in our Your Hour Her Power campaign is Rosie Lopes Real Estate Professional, Corporate Lawyer, President of the Brazil Association in the Okanagan, and one of our incredible Mentors at Dress for Success Kelowna! “This campaign means to me, above everything, sharing power. Your hour has more than the money value to these women; your hour means support, love, belief, altruism, and care, and this is power! This campaign is about letting these wonderful women know that they are not alone, and they can thrive. I am constantly challenged in my life, sometimes by others, most of the time by myself… Sometimes people who you believed in are the ones that turn their back on you; sometimes people you don’t even know well reach out and are ready to lend you a helping hand. And that’s the beauty of life: its complexity, the disappointments and rewards it brings. What you learn along the way and how you apply this knowledge is essentially how you build confidence and resiliency to succeed professionally and personally. I am not proud of what I have achieved; I am proud of the hard work I put in to get there. And we shouldn’t expect anyone else to recognize our accomplishments other than ourselves. Selflove and selfcare come first. Support from others is that extra push we need to give one more step up. Let’s help each other, give love, and share power! Happy International Women’s Day!” To donate to Rosie’s campaign, please click the link in our bio. Our 2024 Your Hour Her Power campaign is generously sponsored by TD.
